I am thrilled to announce that Tre Piscine Cala del Cuore has officially been recognized and included in the census conducted by the Italian Environmental Fund (FAI). This remarkable achievement, accomplished through an impressive 3,300 votes, grants the site a well-deserved place among the FAI-protected locations. This result was achieved thanks to the unwavering commitment of the Next association, the 15 signature collection centres that joined us for over six months, and the countless citizens and visitors who wholeheartedly supported the candidacy.

Preserving Nature’s Legacy

The inclusion of Tre Piscine Cala del Cuore in the FAI census sends a powerful message about the importance of preserving the coastal areas of Bagheria and Santa Flavia. These regions are home to exceptional biodiversity that has unfortunately faced the consequences of unauthorized development in the past. The future of this area lies in its transformation into a sanctuary, dedicated to the conservation of this invaluable natural heritage. Activities such as birdwatching and trekking will be thoughtfully managed to ensure the preservation of this precious ecosystem.

Achieving a Result Through Community Support and Engagement

The success of Tre Piscine Cala del Cuore’s qualification owes a great debt to the extraordinary efforts of the Next Association and the unwavering support of the local community. The residents of Bagheria and Santa Flavia, along with the 15 collection centres, played an instrumental role in rallying behind this cause. Their unwavering dedication and active participation in the campaign resulted in a resounding victory for the project. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who actively participated in the census and voted for the Tre Piscine Cala del Cuore project, recognizing the invaluable role each individual played in securing this achievement. The overwhelming support from the local community, including the citizens of Bagheria and Santa Flavia, as well as various businesses and associations, has made a difference.

Strengthening the Case for the Capo Zafferano Marine Protected Area

The qualification of Tre Piscine Cala del Cuore in the FAI census holds significant weight in the establishment of the long-awaited Capo Zafferano Marine Protected Area. While the Posidonia meadows have received Site of Community Interest (SIC) recognition in previous years, it remains relatively unknown to the broader public. The inclusion of Tre Piscine Cala del Cuore reinforces the urgency and importance of establishing this marine protected area, safeguarding the coastal treasures and natural wonders it encompasses.
